Before buying a laptop check these 7 important considerations

Are you planning to buy a new laptop and getting big confusion or difficulty, in fact there is a wide range of laptops on the market today, many companies are offering many options but what is really needed ?
Here are some suggestions to help ensure you get the one that is best for your needs:

1) Price - Generally the best value machines are in the middle of the price range. The lower priced machines will be slower and have lower quality displays, while those at the top end may offer features that you just don't need.

2) Manufacturer - Durability and reliability are important if you want to ensure you get the maximum life out of your machine. Some manufacturers are better than others in this regard. A good rule of thumb is to sticks with that are used by the largest companies in your area. Because they deploy large numbers of laptops they will not buy equipment from manufacturers with a poor track record for reliability.

3) Weight - If you don't travel much then weight probably isn't a huge factor in your purchase. If this is the case then one of the more bulky desktop replacement machines will probably do well for you. However if travel is a consideration look at the option of a slightly smaller screen to lower the bulk of machine and make travelling easier for you.

4) RAM - Your machines memory. Always buy a laptop with a minimum of 1 GB of RAM. Anything less will slow a Windows machine. Three or four GB is probably ideal.

5) Processor - This is the heart of your machine, it's a bit like the engine in a car, the bigger more powerful it is the faster your commuter will go. There are a number of factors influencing the speed of your machine but always ensure it has at least two "cores" or is a dual processor machine. Next look to buy the fastest "clock speed" for your money. Clock speed is generally measured in Mega or Giga hertz. Gigahertz is quicker and the bigger the number the better.

6) Display - To display information on your screen the machine needs to use some RAM or memory. In older machines, the system shares the computers main memory with the display. This uses system RAM and generally slows the machine. Newer systems have dedicated, separate video memory which usually makes for a faster machine.

7) Hard Drive - this is where the programs and your data are stored. The bigger the better. Anything under 80Gigabytes will probably lower the useful life of your machine, look for 120Gig or more.

Our last suggestion is that you try using your prospective laptop before you buy. Most computer shops are laid out so it is easy for you to do the basics with the machine on the stand. Be certain you feel comfortable with the look and feel (keyboard) of the machine overall.
We hope these tips help ensure your next laptop provides faithful service for many years to come.
